Inclusive Growth for Women & Youth

LENGTH OF EXISTENCE AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Our Project Impact

2018 to 2022, KWFI

Implemented advocacy strategies that target empowering women in extractive sector to address challenges that affect them as a result of mining activities. Some of the issues addressed included women inclusion in leadership, women economic empowerment, gender based violence and generally women participation in governance. This initiative was being funded by the Law Society of Kenya under the supporting Inclusive Resource Development in East Africa project.

2021 June to 2022 June

KWFI conducted a series of sensitization forums and trainings on communication and managing emotions aimed at enhancing coexistence and access to justice amongst women especially victims and survivors of gender based violence. These activities were funded by well-wishers both in kind and in cash.

From 2020 to 2023

KWFI also successfully conducted agribusiness training to young women out of school on management of kitchen gardens as a means of ensuring availability of food and improved nutrition amongst the beneficiaries. These activities were funded by the organizations both with the staff supporting in kind.

In 2022

With support from Network of Adolescent and Youth in Africa NAYA, KWFI was able to mobilize YWG to contribute to the County Sectorial Plan 2023-2032. The YWGs were trained on the county budget cycle, developing score cards and developing memoranda. A total of 80 YWG from Matuga, Msambweni and Lungalunga benefitted.

In 2023

We also engaged stakeholders in the mining sector to address issues of environmental pollution in Kinango and Msambweni sub counties. These activities were made possible through voluntary engagements by both the organization and the affected communities.

From Dec 2023 to June 2025

KWFI partnered with S.A.F.E Pwani to implement UAMUZI project in Kwale County.  The project focused on breaking down stigma around sexual and reproductive health, educating about different aspects of sexual and reproductive health and rights, transforming men into allies of vulnerable girls and task them to embrace women’s rights and wellbeing.
